Each year, Dr. James Marotta steps away from his busy practice on Long Island to serve a much greater purpose - providing life-changing surgical care to patients in need through HUGS, Inc. in Antigua, Guatemala.

This mission is more than just medicine—it’s hope.

Through HUGS, Inc., Dr. Marotta and a team of dedicated medical professionals volunteer their time and expertise to treat children and adults born with cleft lip and palate deformities—conditions that not only affect appearance, but also the ability to eat, speak, and live without stigma. For many of these patients, this mission is their only opportunity to receive care.

In just a matter of days, lives are transformed.

But these missions rely heavily on donations to cover essential costs—medical supplies, surgical equipment, medications, travel, and accommodations for the volunteer team. Every dollar raised goes directly toward making these surgeries possible.
