Hugo Caicedo has been a pillar of the Port St. Lucie soccer community for years. As a coach, he has dedicated the last 31 years to mentoring young athletes here, sharing his passion for the game, and shaping the lives of countless players. Originally from Cali, Colombia, Hugo was a professional soccer player before moving to Florida, where he continued his love for the sport by coaching and inspiring others. His caring coaching style and commitment have helped many players reach their dreams, whether playing in college or going pro. But Hugo’s impact goes far beyond the soccer field. He is a devoted husband and father to his son Jordan, who is autistic and requires daily care and support. Hugo’s presence at home was vital—he would come home during lunch to care for Jordan, take him to weekly doctor’s appointments, and provide the comfort and stability his son needs. Now, Hugo’s wife is facing these challenges alone, trying to care for Jordan without the support and partnership Hugo provided every day.
Three weeks ago, Hugo experienced immigration complications and earlier this week he was deported to Colombia. His situation remains unclear at this time, as he will now need to continue his case from Colombia. He is separated from his family, unable to work as a coach, and left in a place with no home, job, or resources. Hugo and his family are facing an uncertain and difficult road ahead. We are raising funds to help Hugo cover his living expenses in Colombia, pay for the legal support needed to resolve his immigration status, and provide his family with the help they need—especially for Jordan’s daily care. Your support will make a real difference for Hugo, his wife, and his son as they navigate this crisis and work to bring their family back together. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help Hugo and his family through this incredibly difficult time.
