Since 2008, the Hudson Valley SPCA has been a beacon of compassion for animals in need across our region. Now, we are embarking on the most important project in our history: Joining forces with Squirrelwood Equine Sanctuary (SES) and building new facilities for our small animal population.
Beginning in the winter of 2025, we will purchase property at Squirrelwood and start construction of purpose-built kennels, housing, and care facilities for dogs, cats, and other small animals. This move meets our need to grow while it ensures a sustainable and safe future for the HVSPCA—and for every animal that depends on us.
Why This Matters
A Forever Home: Squirrelwood Equine Sanctuary is the ideal home for the Hudson Valley SPCA, with its expansive grounds, deep commitment to animal care, and shared humane values.
Purpose-Built Facilities: For the first time, the HVSPCA will have small animal housing tailored to meet the highest standards of safety and comfort.
Community Partnership: With SES’s full support—including its Executive Director Beth Hyman managing our social media and fundraising—we are stronger than ever.
How You Can Help
This project requires significant capital improvements, and we cannot do it without you. Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
- Purchasing property at Squirrelwood for HVSPCA’s use
- Designing and constructing small animal facilities (kennels, cat housing, adoption spaces)
- Critical infrastructure improvements (utilities, fencing, HVAC, drainage)
- Outfitting the new facilities with safe, modern equipment
