Hudson, the Heart Warrior!

“Hudson the Heart Warrior”

 We are raising money for Hudson (our nephew, cousin, and friend) who is not quite 2 years old and is already on his 4th open heart surgery. He was born with multiple heart defects: double outlet right ventricle, a variation of hypoplastic left heart syndrome, pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect, and Wolff Parkinson White syndrome. These defects required multiple surgeries to give Hudson the best opportunities possible, as these surgeries are neither a fix, nor a cure. He has been in the hospital due to his surgeries, excluding outpatient appointments, for a total of six months of his life. He has done so well thus far conquering every step of this journey.

His latest surgery, November 13, 2018, was a biventricle repair. This involved creating two functioning ventricles in a single procedure. Hudson’s doctors said that it truly was three surgeries performed in one and was a lot for his heart and body to handle. Hudson has been at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for a month now.

This surgery stay has been different than previous ones as Henry, Hudson’s older brother, is in kindergarten now. So instead of mom and Henry being in Rochester together, dad has had to cut back his hours to get Henry to school and pick him up from his auntie’s house at a reasonable time. Dad and Henry have put on 2,500 miles in the four short weeks that they have been visiting Hudson and mom in Rochester. Mom stays with Hudson to be an active part of his care and is still working full time as well.

 We are setting up this account to help out with Hudson’s medical costs. We love this sweet, happy kid and his awesome family and want to do everything we can to help them. Going through all these struggles really shows the character of an individual and a family and from what we’ve seen so far they are fighters. They take each day as it comes with grace and strength, whether it be filled with happiness or struggles. They make the best of each day and appreciate what they have. We love and appreciate them and want to try and make their days a little better. We thank you all for your love and support of our Heart Warrior, Hudson.
