Today, while doing chores, I had a pretty serious accident. Right now, we know I have at least one obvious fracture, with the possibility of others while we wait on radiology. I also have a large wound that caused nerve damage, a dislocated joint in my elbow, and torn tendons. I’m currently waiting to go into surgery.

As much as I wish my personal injuries didn’t affect the sanctuary, the reality is that they do—and this one is going to make things incredibly difficult for us for a while.

I had a horse scheduled to come in for training on September 1st that I’ve now had to cancel. Training income helps me personally cover expenses for the sanctuary, so losing that income hurts.

On top of that, my husband was supposed to leave next week for a traveling job specifically so we could bring in much-needed extra income to prepare for winter feed. With hay prices, difficulty finding quality hay, and very limited grant funding, this was not an easy decision for our family. It was a huge sacrifice he was willing to make because it would have helped us get ahead on winter feed and, hopefully, allowed us to stop asking our community for help so often.

And now… here we are.

To say I’m stressed is an understatement. We have horses depending on us every single day, and their feed, medications, farrier care, and other needs don’t stop just because I got hurt. We now have to figure out what the next several weeks look like, what I’ll physically be able to do after surgery, and how we’re going to adjust our plans financially.

I absolutely hate having to ask, especially when we were actively trying to find ways to become less dependent on fundraising. But right now, **we truly could use any help our community is willing to give while we figure out our next steps and make a new plan of action.**

If you’re able to donate, even $5 makes a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing this post helps more than you know. ❤️

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who continues to stand behind our sanctuary and these horses. This definitely wasn’t the “break” I had in mind, but we’ll figure out a way forward. ❤️

Every $5, $10, share, and donation truly adds up. Right now, every bit of support helps us continue providing feed, medications, farrier care, and everything else our sanctuary horses need while we navigate my recovery. ❤️
