We are thrilled to announce that our book, Hope Springs: A Small Town’s Fight for Community-Driven Healthcare, has found a publisher! Now, we need your help to bring this powerful story to an even broader audience.
This compelling medical drama tells the story of a small town’s fight to preserve compassionate, patient-centered healthcare.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 or more to fund the publishing process and take the next step toward producing a TV series pilot based on Hope Springs.
We have partnered with the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative (RWHC), a leading advocate in rural healthcare. All donations are charitable and tax deductible, and 100% of donations will support the Hope Springs mission.
Why This Story Matters
Healthcare in the U.S. is facing major challenges as it shifts to a profit-driven model. 65% of bankruptcies in America are tied to medical debt, and the changing system is putting primary care at risk.
Approximately 50% of primary care physicians report feeling burnt out. Rural communities are particularly impacted, with many hospitals closing maternity wards or shutting down entirely.
There is growing public dissatisfaction.
We are creating a book series, Hope Springs, A Small Town’s Fight for Community-Driven Healthcare, which follows the real-life struggles and successes of rural healthcare professionals striving to create a sustainable, community-driven universal healthcare model while addressing pressing issues, such as:
- Rural healthcare access
- The challenges of physician training and retention in small towns
- The impact of social determinants on health outcomes
- The moral and ethical dilemmas faced by healthcare professionals
- The battle between compassionate care and corporate-driven healthcare policies
Through engaging characters like Dr. Karl Portman, a seasoned family physician on the brink of retirement, and Dr. Sarah Winston, a young doctor returning to her hometown to take on his legacy, Hope Springs will inspire, educate, and spark meaningful conversations about the future of healthcare in America. Hope Springs will also feature internal medicine and pediatrics doctors, as well as emergency physicians, obstetrician/gynecologists, general surgeons, orthopedists, and visiting specialty physicians, who also play a major role in providing health to rural communities.
