Family, friends, and community,
We are overjoyed to welcome Memphis Jack Shults, born right on his mom and dad’s wedding anniversary and weighing 6 lbs. 7 oz. His story is just beginning, and already he’s shown he’s one tough little fighter.
Shortly after birth, doctors discovered that Memphis was born with several complications that required immediate attention. In just his first weeks of life, he has already undergone multiple major surgeries, including a repair of his esophagus, open-heart surgery, and surgery to correct an umbilical/urachal sinus issue. These were not small procedures, and each one was critical to helping him survive and begin to thrive.
Memphis has spent much of his early days between the NICU and the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, where he continues to receive expert care from some of the most compassionate medical professionals imaginable. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Hurley Medical Center staff and doctors, as well as the incredible team at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Detroit for their kindness, guidance, and unwavering support during this time.
As their family, we are starting this fund to give Bree, Aaron, and Memphis the best possible foundation as they navigate these challenges. All contributions will go toward medical expenses and ongoing needs, allowing Bree and Aaron to focus on what matters most: being present with their son.
Your generosity and support mean more than words can express. Thank you for being part of Memphis’s story and surrounding this sweet boy with love as he grows stronger each day. ❤️
With gratitude,
The Carlton, Shults and Vandesteene Families
