Support Honey Bunny's Critical Surgery

UPDATE: Honey has caval syndrome. The worms are causing a blockage in her heart. The surgery she’s having will clear the blockage and keep her from going in heart failure and eventually full organ failure. We should know by the early morning hours on 7/11 how successful the surgery was. Without the surgery, she wouldn’t have survived the weekend… maybe wouldn’t have made it to the weekend… Our girl is STRONG and we have faith that God is leading the doctor’s steps and holding Honey through it all. We’re raising the goal because we’ve found out that Honey will still need a full round of heartworm treatment after the surgery. They only remove what’s necessary to clear the blockage in surgery because of the risks. They don’t want to keep her under anesthesia longer than they need to. SHE IS A SEVERE AND CRITICAL CASE!!! What’s not used of the money raised will go back to the animal hospital that helped diagnose Honey this morning before we started fundraising. She has such an amazing team and support system around her and we can’t wait until our girl is back in good spirits! ✨

I’m sure everyone remembers our sweet Honey Bunny - the stray we rescued from the side of the interstate last fall. Despite everything she’s been through, she continues to be the sweetest, cutest, most loving soul you could ever meet.

We recently found out she’s infested with heartworms — so severely that she’s now in critical condition. Shockingly, multiple heartworm tests had come back negative before this week, allowing the infestation to go undetected. Now, she’s having emergency surgery today to physically remove the worms from her heart through an artery in her neck. It’s an incredibly risky and delicate procedure, but it’s her only chance.

The cost of this surgery is high, and my mom — who opened her home to Honey when nobody else wanted her — is covering it out of pocket.
