Hello, I am Marc Noon. I am a Christian, husband, father, Marine, and skater from Lawrenceburg, KY. I am the founder of Holy Rollers Skate Ministry and here is our story:
When God speaks to us, a normal human reaction is refusing to believe it is happening. It is quite easy to ignore, but for me, my life forever changed at church a few months ago.
I was sitting in church with my wife when my mind began to wander off from the sermon. If you are guilty like me, our minds tend to do this from time to time. I will be honest; I do not even remember what our pastor was even preaching about that day lol. Suddenly, I became overwhelmed as if I were watching a movie unfold in front of me. I watched as I was ministering local kids, as well as my own kiddos at the skatepark here in Lawrenceburg, KY. If that was not weird enough, the name Holy Rollers was written out in front of me. I was caught in a movie that I could not turn my eyes away from. To freak you out even more, I watched as I began baptizing kids in a horse trough of all things, in the middle of the skatepark. I knew immediately this was a true calling from God.
I began to coordinate with a local t-shirt company to design an epic logo for Holy Rollers Skate Ministry. I requested a lot of details in the design and created the motto “Leave the 99.” For those who are not familiar, “Leave the 99” comes from the book of Luke 15: 1-7. I will paraphrase, but Jesus is being criticized for welcoming sinners and eating with them. Jesus begins to tell a parable about having 100 sheep and losing 1. Do you not leave the 99 and go after your lost sheep? And when you find it, you joyfully put in on your shoulders and go home celebrating with your friends and family. Jesus ends the story within the same way, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over 1 sinner who repents, than over 99 righteous who don’t. The Holy Rollers Skate Ministry is after that 1 lost skateboarder. Our mission is to spread the word of Jesus Christ to all through skateboarding. To seek and save the lost, focusing on the kids of our community in Lawrenceburg, KY. Plus in today’s society, the most rebellious/punk rock thing you can do is become a follower of Jesus Christ.
The Holy Rollers have found a location for our skate ministry, allowing kids to skate throughout the chilly winter months ahead. But we need your help. To get this project off the ground, we need to purchase materials for our mini ramp. This will allow our kids to skate on high quality ramps in a safe manner. Also, with your donations, we will be able to purchase snacks, drinks, and food for our kids that we will feed once a week. Donation funds will also, be able to purchase pads, helmets, and skateboards for kids who can't afford it. Any donations will be gratefully appreciated, and we cannot wait to share our story with you! Shred on homies!
