Support Holly's Ordination Retreat

Hello everyone, Olmer and Eve here from the Nottingham Buddhist Sangha. We’re very excited to be setting up this GoFundMe page to support and raise funds for our dear friend and member of the Sangha, Holly, as she embarks on a significant spiritual journey. Holly will be ordained in the Spanish mountains at Akashavana, where she will spend two and a half months taking this step towards deepening her commitment to the Dharma.

Holly has been a very committed part of the Nottingham Sangha for many years and has contributed in countless ways. Throughout her time at the Nottingham Buddhist Centre, she has taught yoga, been an active member of the Sub-35 team, supported introductory courses and drop-in classes, facilitated Mitra study groups, and has been a vital role in our Sangha.

Hello everyone, my name is Holly. I first encountered the Dharma in 2012 at the Nottingham Buddhist Centre’s drop-in sessions. It goes without saying that this experience completely transformed my life. A year later, I became a mitra and, knowing I wanted to fully commit myself to the Dharma, asked for ordination. I have a deep love for sharing the Dharma and being an active part of the spiritual community. I’m truly excited to be taking this step and making this commitment.

Over the past four years, I’ve been studying acupuncture. During this time, I also faced significant challenges, including two years of illness with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome following Covid-19. Now, as I recover, I’m in the process of setting up my business. Before this chapter, I spent two incredible years as a permanent member of the Taraloka community.

Understandably, my finances are tight at the moment, so I’m reaching out to family, friends and friends in the sangha for support as I prepare for my ordination.

The £5,500 I’m raising will help cover the costs of the retreat, flights for both myself and my preceptor, and rent while I’m away.
