My name is Julie Roesch and I had the privilege of teaching with Holly and watching our daughters grow up together.
If you know the Lathes, you know they are a kind and generous family who have enriched many communities and circles over the past twenty some years. And you likely also know that they are working to overcome an incredible challenge right now. Holly is facing down advanced-stage breast cancer. While her first two rounds of chemo have gone well, there is an uphill climb as Holly faces more chemo treatments through August, major surgery in September with an eight week recovery, followed by radiation treatment through November or December.
In 2016, the Lathes made the courageous decision to uproot the only home their family knew in Little Falls and moved to Sartell to a home that fit their family’s mobility needs. Because of this, Holly started at a new job, losing all of her accumulated sick leave. Because she works in the same district that the kids attended, she has been the parent who takes kids to appointments. Their family insurance also runs through Holly’s employment.
This battle with cancer means that Holly will be on medical leave for 3-4 months, with no income and having to pay for the family’s health insurance premiums. That’s why we’ve started this campaign. Would you join me in making sure that the Lathe Family can focus on recovery? So many have already stepped in to help with meals, care packages, and thoughtful gestures. Helping fill the gap financially as they head into surgery and radiation this fall will give them tremendous peace and the ability to focus on recovery. Your donation will help offset the health insurance costs and lost wages because of this horrible disease.
