Please consider supporting my nephew, Hinton Thomson, as he recovers from a serious accident.
Below is a message from his parents sharing more about what happened and how you can help.
On January 31, 2026, our lives changed in an instant.
While on an annual ski trip with family and friends, our son Hinton suffered a serious fall that resulted in multiple fractures in his back and a severe spinal cord injury.
He underwent emergency surgery in Montreal to stabilize and fuse his spine and was then transferred to CHEO in Ottawa. He has since arrived in Toronto to begin his specialized rehabilitation treatment.
Right now, Hinton has no feeling or movement below his hips. His injury is significant, and recovery will be a long and uncertain journey. But if you know Hinton, you know one thing, he does not give up.
He has always poured his whole heart into everything he does... in sports, in school, in friendships, in life. That same determination is already showing in rehab. He is working hard, building strength, and facing each day with courage that humbles us.
As we begin to understand what the road ahead looks like, we are realizing how much support will be needed, not just medically, but practically and financially.
Funds raised will help support:
• Specialized rehabilitation and therapy
• Mobility equipment and adaptive devices
• Home modifications to make our space accessible
• Travel and accommodations for long-term treatment
• Future adaptive sports opportunities
Canada’s healthcare system covers hospital care, but many essential expenses related to long-term recovery and accessibility are not covered.
We will continue to post updates here as we learn more and as Hinton progresses.
If you are able, please consider donating or sharing this page. Every contribution helps lighten the weight our family is carrying and gives Hinton the strongest possible foundation for recovery.
Updates will also be shared on Facebook at “Hinton’s Healing Journey” and those who would prefer to donate by etransfer can also find the email address there.
With love and gratitude,
Amy & Telly
