We are the Hilo Hammahz Water Polo Club, a grassroots nonprofit organization based on the Big Island of Hawai‘i, and we need your help!

This summer, our team of passionate young female athletes has earned the incredible opportunity to compete in the USA Water Polo Junior Olympics in Orange County, California — the largest and most prestigious youth water polo tournament in the country. This is our first-ever trip to the Junior Olympics, and for many of our girls, it will be their first time traveling for sport on the mainland.

Our club was founded with a mission to create a safe place to empower, equip, and instill in our athletes the skills, values, and life lessons necessary for success — both in and out of the water- so that they may reach their full potential as athletes and individuals through the sport of water polo.

We are proud to operate as a completely cost-free program. In a community where financial hardship is a real barrier, this model ensures that no athlete is turned away due to inability to pay. We serve a socioeconomically diverse population here on the Big Island, and our goal is simple: to give our keiki the opportunity to grow and thrive without placing an additional burden on their ‘ohana.

However, getting to Junior Olympics is a big financial lift — and we need your support to make it happen! While families have fundraised for flights and transportation, we are fundraising to help with housing accommodations for our athletes and coaches during the tournament.
