I currently live in Raleigh, North Carolina, this beautiful state that has given me the opportunity to live beautiful moments for more than 20 years that I have been in this great nation. I am a migrant woman who since the first day I arrived here has dedicated myself body and soul to work and to raise my 2 children as a single and independent woman. The hardest thing was not seeing my 2 children grow up and missing that stage all because I wanted to give them a better future in Mexico. But thank God I was able to make my goals with them come true and fulfill them and now they are two good men.

Along the way, I have had to fight with many trials in life that have put me in the way: humiliation, working without pay, not having a home or where to sleep many times, but the biggest test was when I was raped 2 times by 2 different people, all for being a single person in this country and ignorant and in the end not knowing anyone and how the law worked at that time was something that left me very bad but made me strong. But even with that, I thank God because he was my guide and strength.

On this occasion, again God gives me one more test of love and strength and I was diagnosed with blood cancer (leukemia) and have to have chemotherapy and a Bone Marrow Transplant to continue living in this world. Unfortunately, due to my status as a migrant, I cannot have insurance nor Medicare to cover any medical bills or the transplant, which is the most important in this medical process of this cancer treatment for a complete recovery. We have paid some medical bills with small donations from personal friends and an organization, however, we have a long way to go to reach our treatment goal to cover the cost of the bone marrow transplant of $400,000. Maybe the amount sounds very high but God has never left me alone at my time of need. Hola, mi nombre es Hilaria de la Cruz, originaria de Tamaulipas, Mexico. Actualmente vivo en Raleigh, North Carolina, este bonito estado que me ha dado la oportunidad de vivir bellos momentos por más de 20 años que llevo en esta gran nación. Soy una mujer migrante que desde el primer día que llegué aquí me he dedicado en cuerpo y alma a trabajar y sacar mis 2 hijos adelante como una mujer sola e independiente. Lo más difícil fue no ver crecer a mis 2 hijos y perderme esa etapa todo por querer darles un futuro mejor en México. En el camino he tenido que luchar con muchas pruebas de la vida que me puso en el camino: humillaciones, trabajar sin recibir pago, no teniendo casa o donde dormir muchas veces, pero la mayor prueba fue cuando viví 2 violaciones por 2 personas diferentes, todo por ser una persona sola en este país e ignorante y al final no conocer a nadie y cómo funcionaba en aquel tiempo la ley. Fue algo que me dejó muy mal, pero me hizo fuerte. Pero aun con eso le doy gracias a Dios porque él fue mi guía y fortaleza. Pero gracias a Dios pude hacer realidad y cumplir con mis metas con ellos y ahora son dos hombres de bien.

En esta ocasión nuevamente Dios me pone una prueba más de amor y fortaleza y fui diagnosticada con CÁNCER en la sangre (leucemia) y me veo en la necesidad de acudir a la voluntad de sus corazones. Porque en el camino, aparte del tratamiento de quimioterapia, llegará el momento donde necesitaré un TRANSPLANTE DE MÉDULA ÓSEA para poder seguir viviendo en este mundo. Desgraciadamente por mi condición de migrante YO no puedo tener una aseguranza o un Medicare que pueda responder por las cuentas médicas y sobre todo por el trasplante de médula ósea que es lo más importante en este proceso médico de cáncer para que mi recuperación sea completa. Hemos pagado algunas facturas médicas y también hemos tenido ayuda de organizaciones de gente muy generosa pero aún nos falta un camino largo para llegar a la meta para cubrir el costo solo del trasplante de médula ósea y el costo es de $400 mil solo el trasplante. Tal vez se escucha fuerte la cantidad del dinero para pagar el trasplante pero Dios nunca me ha dejado sola y esta vez no me dejará. $1 dólar siempre hará la diferencia. POR FAVOR pido y ruego a sus corazones que con su bondad puedan donar lo que sea su voluntad $1, 2, 5, 20. 1 dólar puede salvar mi vida y con 1 dólar tú puedes salvar una vida.
