Hi everyone,
In the early hours of Thursday morning, we had a break-in at our new cafe. The thieves caused extensive damage to equipment, and theft totaling approximately $10,000. During the break-in, all cameras and security equipment were destroyed. They stole some of the most essential pieces of our business, including our espresso grinder, sales system, food inventory, and approximately $2,000 worth of bike parts from our bike shop.
As a new small business, losses of this size are incredibly difficult to recover from. Every piece of equipment we lost is critical to serving our customers and keeping our doors open.
Despite this setback, we are determined to keep going. This location has been a gathering place for our community for many years prior to changing ownership and we aren’t willing to give that up!
We are asking for help to replace stolen equipment, repair the damage, restore security systems, and get back to business as usual. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing our story or stopping for a coffee would mean the world to us.
Our entire team is overwhelmed by the love, encouragement, and support we’ve already received. We appreciate our community more than anyone knows, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has reached out, shared kind words, and offered help during this difficult time.
Thank you for supporting us and helping us get back on our feet.
With love,
Lauren Ruiz & the Highland Espresso Team
