Support Highland Brewing Staff After Hurricane
Donation protected
I am Leah Ashburn, CEO and family owner of Highland Brewing in Asheville, NC. The organizer listed below is our Finance Director, Liza. We have worked together for 13 years.
Our beautiful region was crushed by Tropical Storm Helene.
I hesitated to do a GoFundMe. We are a private business. But we also have limits. We just committed to paying our entire staff for a third week with almost no revenue.
We have not been a brewery since Sept 27, when Helene took a staff member's home and others were displaced. But so many, who do not have running water at home and may not have power, are jumping in to help in any way. Running water is not going to be available for weeks or longer.
There is no running water at Highland but we have power and a large building and property that is housing supplies, equipment, and logistics for more organizations by the day.
We have welcomed and engaged our staff to work with:
- Wine to Water, an international water relief organization
- Beloved Asheville, we offered them a warehouse, logistics, traffic control, safety protocols, PPE, forklifts and drivers, and organization of the tons of donated supplies
- Curate food, as they work with World Central Kitchen
- NC Highway Patrol - these men and women are tireless and selfless
- Flush AVL, which has deployed hundreds of non-potable water totes to communities in need. They plan to deploy thousands.
- Urban Orchard, to store cider in our cooler
- Asheville Humane Society, to store dog food
Your gift will be shared directly with our incredible staff as a non-taxable gift. Many have been here for long hours, doing any type of work they are asked to do, while they know we can't make beer and had to cancel events and so many places in our home region are closed or washed away.
