We’re very excited to share that our baseball team, the Hicksville Hurricanes 10u, has been invited to play in the Cooperstown tournament. A once in a lifetime opportunity for young athletes to play where legends have stood!

I would like to share with you our story of my son’s baseball journey. From No Gear to a Home Run!

In 2023, we signed our son up for baseball for the very first time. After the long pause from the pandemic, we were eager for him to experience something active and outdoors, and baseball seemed like the perfect choice. But when we arrived at the tryouts, we quickly realized we were completely unprepared. We had no bat, no helmet, no glove, nothing. We honestly thought the gear would be provided. I was so embarrassed, I rushed home to grab anything that resembled a bat. Thankfully, a few kind parents stepped in and lent us what we needed to get through the day.

What happened next felt like a miracle. Despite it being his first time, our son gave it his all and actually made the travel team.

Since then, it’s been a whirlwind. We practice nearly every day with batting, catching, and pitching. And the growth I’ve seen in him has been nothing short of amazing. Just recently, he hit a ball clear out of the park for his first home run. And he’s becoming quite a pitcher, too.

But this journey is more than just baseball. It’s about giving our kids the opportunity to challenge themselves, to grow as teammates, to build confidence, and to create lifelong memories. This team, this sport, this trip, it’s all a part of something bigger. It's a chance to be part of a cherished piece of Americana, and more importantly, a chance for our kids to believe in themselves.
