Hi Trinh is a loving husband, father, grandpa and someone many people in our community look up to. He’s spent his life working as a master mechanic, fixing cars and helping anyone who needed a hand. He has a big passion for car shows and an even bigger one for his family. He was incredibly proud to finally become a U.S. citizen — a milestone he worked toward for years.

Over the years, Hi has always made time to visit his family in Vietnam, staying connected to his roots and the people he loves. But on this trip, everything changed. Just one day after arriving, he suddenly collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors discovered severe heart complications that required immediate attention.

The first hospital he was taken to didn’t have the equipment or specialists needed to treat him, and his heart was too weak for immediate transport. Once he was stabilized and transferred to a larger hospital, Hi underwent a 7 hour emergency surgery where multiple stents were placed, including in his brain, in an effort to save his life.

Hi is now in the ICU, unconscious and in critical condition, receiving intensive care around the clock. His situation is fragile and evolving — and deeply frightening for all of us who love him.

As many know, medical costs abroad are extremely high, and because he is outside the United States, Medicare does not cover any part of his treatment. The financial burden is enormous and is growing each day he remains in the ICU.
