Support Hesham After Life-Changing Car Accident
On December 27, our lives changed forever.
My brother, Hesham (58), was involved in a serious car accident at 159th Street and Cicero Avenue in Chicago. He suffered catastrophic injuries and has been hospitalized ever since. Hesham is currently quadriplegic, has undergone multiple surgeries, and remains on a ventilator with a tracheostomy after spending an extended time in the ICU.
Before this accident, Hesham worked hard every day to support himself and his family. He has no health insurance and no other source of income. He is also a devoted father who helps support his son, who is currently in college.
Because Hesham does not have insurance, he has been denied admission to inpatient rehabilitation, including Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, despite desperately needing specialized rehab care. His road to recovery will be long and uncertain, and without proper rehabilitation, equipment, and support, his quality of life is at serious risk.
In addition to overwhelming medical challenges, Hesham now faces:
• Ongoing and future medical bills
• Inpatient rehabilitation and therapy need
• Medical equipment (wheelchair, bed, Hoyer lift, respiratory and mobility equipment)
• Basic living expenses and long-term care planning
• 24/7 caregivers.
• Supporting his son’s essential needs
To make matters even more difficult, Hesham was scheduled for his U.S. citizenship interview, which must take place in Cairo. Due to his condition, there is absolutely no way for him to travel, placing his immigration future in jeopardy on top of everything else.
We are asking for help during the most difficult time our family has ever faced. Every donation — no matter the size — will go directly toward Hesham’s medical care, rehabilitation, equipment, bills, and long-term living needs. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, prayers, and support.
