Hello, my name is April, I am a mother of 2 beautiful daughters and just this year became a grandmother of a beautiful granddaughter. I was informed on Christmas Eve 2025 that I have breast cancer. Cancer... One of the scariest words ever. I am 49 years old and thought my life was going pretty good. I am in a strong and healthy relationship with an amazing man, I just found my dream job and was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter. Then I found a lump in my right breast. Because I just moved and started a new job, I had to set out and find a doctor, and fast. One that took my new insurance. I found one and she sent me in for a mammogram and ultrasound. Before leaving after my mammogram and ultrasound, the nurse took me into a room and told me they want to do a biopsy, to get a better idea of what this lump is. On Christmas Eve, I called the nurse that was there through the biopsy to ask what the results were. She then asked if I wanted to talk over the phone or go in and talk. This is when my entire world stopped in its tracks. I wanted to know and didn't want to wait. She then proceeded to tell me I have cancer. My tumor is large at 3.3 cm. I then set up an appointment to go in and talk more in detail, this is a whole new world for me. Then as soon as I hung up with her, I received several calls within a very short amount of time setting up appointments to see doctors, specialists, and surgeons to have this tests done and talk about treatments. Everything going so fast around me yet I felt like I was standing still in the middle of it all. Now I have my treatment plan, and I know all the steps needed to take. My only problem is I have deductible, and co-pays, and out-of-pocket costs. I have all this knowledge I also will be out of work for treatments and recovery. Because I haven't been at my job long, I do not have paid leave yet, so the time off is all unpaid. I work for an amazing company, and I will not lose my job for time missed, very thankful, however, I will have no income and tons of medical bills. I'm asking for help to pay the medical bills. Any help is appreciated, even if it is just prayers, a hug, or a comforting word of encouragement. Cancer is a scary diagnosis to start with, but the added medical bills, and inability to work during treatments is even scarier. I plan to fight this and be another one who fought cancer and won. I truly appreciate everyone that can help whether it is with my bills or just support and encouragement, Thank you.
