Hi everyone! I’m starting this fund on behalf of my girlfriend. For the past several years, she’s been working as a full-time caregiver/private tutor for a teenager with autism. She loves this young woman and her family very much, but she is at the point in her life where she’s ready to start her long-term career.

As part of her development, the family enrolled their daughter in a program known as Spellers Method, which allows non-speaking people with autism to communicate using letter boards to overcome the physical limits of speaking. From the first time she observed, it had such an impact on her. She was able to see the empowerment given to these individuals when they’re treated as capable and provided with a reliable means of communication. She knows firmly that she wants to be a part of such a program, and the only obstacle at this point is the training required. To become an officially licensed Spellers Method practitioner, a 6-month program totaling $8,000 dollars is required.

At this point in time, we don’t have enough in savings or make enough to afford this, as the training would limit her working hours to about half of her current hours (the rest of the time would be spent training). It broke her heart to realize it was not something she could afford. Being able to pay for training, rent, and bills would be impossible. It would mean so much to her to raise this money and allow her to follow her dream and spread the joy she experienced to families in the area with non-speaking children. All of the funds collected will go directly to paying for the training. Thank you all for your kindness and generosity!
