We’re reaching out to ask for your support on behalf of an incredible young woman who is preparing to take her next big step: beginning her first year at Morgan State University. She is a low-income, first-generation college student who has worked tirelessly for this moment — but now, just weeks before school begins, she is facing an unexpected and heartbreaking financial setback.

Until recently, her parents had pledged to help fund her education. However, due to sudden changes and financial stress, they are no longer able to support her — and have even encouraged her to enlist in the military instead. While we honor all paths, this was not the future she had planned for herself. Her dream has always been higher education, and eventually, a career in the film industry where she can tell powerful stories that inspire and uplift others.

Despite this major setback, she remains determined. This student is more than just resilient — she is a leader. In high school, she was actively involved in several clubs, played on the softball team, and advocated not only for herself but for others. She is the kind of person who lights up a room, even when silently struggling. She has learned to smile through pain, and she continues to move forward with unmatched courage and grace.

She was brought to this country as a child from Jamaica, and since then, her family has worked endlessly to give her the best opportunities. Now, it’s her turn — and she just needs a little help to get there.
