Support H.E.R.: Female Voices in Film

We are H.E.R., a female-led production company committed to creating a culture of diversity, inclusion, and equity. Our acronym, while admittedly a little on-the-nose, was just too good not to use, since it stands for our first names: Helen, Emily, and Rae. Each of us works in the entertainment industry in various capacities: from writing, to art direction, producing, acting, music composition, script supervision, directing, editing, and more, and we have a passion for creative, visual storytelling.

We started our production company to tell stories in a way that makes us (and you!) think deeply and see the world more respectfully, and to encourage a healthy work environment of creativity and collaboration.

We've each written a short film and are shooting all three shorts in a week. While this may seem audacious, our three productions perfectly overlap to make use of lighting, setups, and timing. We're confident this will be the most efficient way to utilize our strengths and shoot these films in the most productive amount of time. We're prepped and ready!

Our first film is a drama based on a true story of a couple who finds a woman in a vulnerable circumstance. The second film is an anthology featuring three short stories that take place around a small church in the southeastern United States. And the third is an absurdist comedy that follows a young woman as she realizes she's married to her husband's inner children.

We've enlisted the help of several of our film industry colleagues to bring incredible camera, art design, lighting, sound, and more. We're shooting in 6k with the incomparable Blackmagic Pyxis, and editing with the timeless Adobe Creative Suite.

We've already self-funded casting, camera, art/design, wardrobe, makeup, and craft services, and now we're inviting YOU to be the next part of our journey! We still need additional funding for lighting/electric, sound, and crew to make these films spectacular. We're asking for $10,000 to round out the rest of our budget and give us the best chance at completing these beautiful shorts and submitting them to festivals by this fall.

These three shorts are just the beginning of our journey! We have big goals and we're excited to continue creating beautiful stories that could make the world a little bit better. Will you help us achieve that dream?
