Support Hensley's Journey Through Medical Challenges
Donation protected
My name is Janice and I'm starting this Go Fund Me account for Ally who is the Mother of a brave little girl continuously fighting through several medical issues.
Hensley is Ally's daughter. She has had many medical issues, surgeries and hospital stay's since she was 6 months old that have been ongoing. Despite her issues she is a happy, loving little 5 year old girl.
Some of Hensley's many health issues are:
Deafness-Hensley has Cochlear Implants
Cochlear implants are surgically implanted electronic devices that can help people with severe to profound hearing loss perceive sound and understand speech.
Severe Psoriasis and Eczema
Hensley has a shot once a month for her condition along with many prescribed topical creams.
Pendred Syndrome
Pendred syndrome is a genetic disorder leading to congenital bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and goitre with euthyroid or hypothyroidism. There is no specific treatment, other than supportive measures for the hearing loss and thyroid hormone supplementation in case of hypothyroidism.
Long QT syndrome
A heart rhythm disorder that potentially cause fast, chaotic heartbeats. People with this condition may not develop symptoms for a long time. When symptoms do occur, they can be severe, and may include sudden fainting, seizures, or even sudden death. Hensley is currently on medication for this condition.
Chiari Brain Malformation
It is a structural defect where the brain tissue extends into the spinal canal. Hensley's Chiari has grown dramatically and now requires Chiari Brain Malformation decompression surgery. The hope is this will help with speech delay and issues in developing.
The surgery is 6-7 hours long. Hensley will be in ICU for hopefully 1 night then step down. Hensley will remain in the hospital for up to 5 days. Ally will be staying with her daughter during this time.
The recovery time after her surgery is about 8 weeks.
Ally will be taking family medical leave for 8 weeks.
The first 3 weeks will be spent in the hospital and at home around the clock. The remaining 5 weeks will be a limited schedule (must work to maintain her health insurance). The hours Ally (Mom) will be working will only cover her medical insurance. Unfortunately, she has used her sick and vacation time on many of the ongoing appointments for Hensley's care.
These funds will help Ally to stay auto, so that she can take Hensley to and from doctors appointments and any other living and medical expenses incurred. Ally has already talked to her financer of her car and only have been approved one deferred car payment. They state there is nothing else they can do.
We ask for everyone's thoughts and prayers and if you are able to help Ally and Hensley it will be greatly appreciated.
