Henry’s story is one of resilience from the very beginning.

On June 13th 2021, Henry was born with a malformation in his front leg and wasn’t expected to survive. Despite the odds, he pushed through. When we found out he was being given away for $100, we knew we had to save him. From that moment on, he’s been part of our family.

We’ve always done everything we could to protect him. Knowing dachshunds are prone to back issues, we made sure he had ramps, avoided stairs, and limited jumping. But on August 18th 2025, our worst nightmare came true. As Henry was heading down his ramp to go potty before bed, he slipped and fell. He let out the most heartbreaking scream and suddenly couldn’t move his back legs.

We rushed him to the ER, where doctors discovered he had no deep pain sensation in either leg. An MRI revealed a severe herniated disc, and he was taken straight into emergency surgery. While the surgery went well, his recovery is uncertain—without deep pain sensation, his chances of walking again are only 50/50.

Thanks to pet insurance, some of these costs are covered, but not all. Henry will also need ongoing physical therapy, laser therapy, and acupuncture to give him the best chance at recovery. Every bit of support helps us continue giving him the care he deserves.

Henry has already beaten so many odds in his four years of life, and we believe with all our hearts that he can do it again.
