Hi, my name is Caroline, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my brother, Henrique.
Henrique is just 20 years old and living in Ireland as an exchange student. A few weeks ago, he noticed a lump on his shoulder and went in for a check-up. What we hoped would be something minor quickly turned into something serious. After a biopsy, he received the diagnosis: Hodgkin’s Lymphoma — a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system.
The cancer had already spread from his shoulder to his chest, making it a stage II diagnosis. Because of this, treatment had to begin immediately. His doctors advised against bringing him back to Brazil at this time due to the location of the tumor and the risks involved with flying. So, for now, Henrique has to stay in Ireland and begin chemotherapy there.
Henrique won’t be able to work during the six months of treatment, which makes it even harder for him to support himself abroad. And since our family is based in Brazil, we will take turns traveling to Ireland to be with him, help with daily life, and ensure he doesn’t face this alone.
This situation comes with a lot of costs including medical bills, living expenses, flights, and everything else that goes into supporting someone through cancer treatment in a foreign country. That’s why I created this fundraiser.
We’re still uncertain if Henrique will be able to come back to Brazil later in the treatment - it depends on his response to chemo, the safety of travel, and finding a hospital in Brazil that can continue the same protocol without delay.
We’ll keep everyone updated as things progress. If you can help in any way — by donating or sharing this page — it would mean a lot to us. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go toward helping Henrique focus on what matters most: healing.
Thank you so much for your support.
