Hi everyone,

My name is Ana, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my brother’s dog, my dog nephew, Henrik, who is currently fighting for his life at the emergency veterinary hospital.

Everything happened so fast. On the night of December 16th, Henrik suddenly became critically ill, extremely lethargic and pale, and we rushed him to the emergency vet, where they performed an X-ray and blood tests. While they were able to barely see through the fluid in his stomach, they could tell there was a mass, but that was all they could determine at that time. They explained that they were limited in what they could do and recommended another facility for an ultrasound and further emergency care.

We had to make the heart-wrenching decision to immediately transport him to another town for advanced emergency veterinary care. Thanks to the quick action and expertise of the amazing folks over at Dogwood Veterinary Specialty & Emergency, Henrik’s life was saved. Doctors discovered a splenic mass that had ruptured, causing internal bleeding, a situation that could have been fatal if not treated right away.

While Henrik is stable for now, he is still being closely monitored and watched for the next few days, and his care is ongoing. Between emergency diagnostics, stabilization, hospitalization, surgery, medications, and continued monitoring, the medical costs are adding up extremely quickly.

My brother is doing everything he can to give Henrik a fighting chance, but the financial burden is becoming overwhelming. Any amount — big or small — would help ease the stress and allow him to focus on what matters most: saving his boy.
