Hi, my name is Helen Martinez! I am currently a junior, entering my senior year, at The University of Texas at Dallas working towards my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I am very proud to say that I am a first generation student.

It has been a challenge for me learning about all the resources that can be provided to students. However, I was able to apply for some financial aid and scholarships and received additional aid from family members to cover tuition costs during the fall semester.

However, during this past spring semester I was not able to pay my tuition bill even after my two scholarships and financial aid was disbursed. I come from a low income family and have three younger siblings. So as much as my parents try to help I know that is difficult for them. For this reason I tried applying for loans and lots of scholarships through different websites.

I reached out to different departments at UTD, however the response was always the same; apply for a private loan. However, my credit score is not enough for any loans to be approved. They said there was no additional aid they could provide me with and as long as I don’t pay the bill I cannot register for classes in the fall.

I will not give up on my education, especially after getting this far. Please help me raise money to pay for my past tuition bill so that I may register for classes in the fall and continue my educational studies. Thank you so much!
