Hi, my name is Eddie Hughes, and I’m fundraising for my mom, Helen Hughes — a strong, selfless, and loving woman who has always put our family first, no matter what. She’s the heart of our home and the reason my siblings and I have always felt safe, supported, and loved.
Recently, we received the devastating news that my mom was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer. Since the diagnosis, she’s had to undergo frequent blood transfusions and will eventually begin chemotherapy. She will ultimately have a bone marrow transplant.
My mom is a devoted healthcare worker, she worked for 27 years as a registered nurse at St. Vincents Hospital and for the past 4 years has been a nurse at Milford Hospital. Because of her health and the intense treatment schedule, my mom had to stop working. She was our main provider, and without her income, we’re struggling to keep up with costs of treatment, household expenses, and just trying to make ends meet.
My mom has always been the one holding us together — now she needs us more than ever. I’m asking for your help to ease the financial pressure on her so she can focus on fighting this disease without the added stress of wondering how we’ll keep the lights on or put food on the table.
Anything you can give — even just sharing this page — would mean the world to our family. We are deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support during this incredibly hard time.
Thank you from all of us,
The Hughes Family
