In the span of just one month, my dear friend Helen Ebon’s entire life changed. After a blood test detected tumor DNA, doctors discovered signs pointing toward possible colon cancer. Further testing confirmed those fears after a colonoscopy and biopsy revealed tumors in her colon. Just one week later, Helen was in the hospital undergoing major surgery to remove portions of her colon. Since then, life has become an overwhelming whirlwind of medical procedures, treatments, recovery, and financial hardship. Helen was forced to stop working and give up the small home she had been living in. To heal and try to survive financially, she moved in with her daughter while facing mounting out-of-pocket medical expenses and countless bills that continued piling up while she was unable to work. Even before fully recovering from surgery and while still undergoing treatment, Helen has been forced to return to work in an effort to begin paying down the debt she has incurred simply trying to stay alive and recover.

Anyone who knows Helen knows she is incredibly strong, proud, and independent. She has already endured so much in life, including the heartbreaking loss of her beloved husband, Andy Ebon, just after moving back to California from Las Vegas during the pandemic. Andy, a longtime member of the Tower of Power family, created the very first online message board for Tower of Power fans during the early days of the internet.

BTW…Helen strongly recommends that people consider asking their doctors about the Grail Blood Test, as this test saved her life. Helen was feeling fine, but this test detected specific tumor DNA emanating from her colon which triggered further testing by her doctors.

Right now, Helen could truly use a little help and kindness as she fights to regain her health and stability. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be deeply appreciated and will go directly toward easing the burden of medical bills, living expenses, and recovery costs while Helen works to get back on her feet. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Helen in your thoughts. Thank you all so much for your love, support, and compassion.
