UPDATE 03/24/2025: I HAVE UNTIL APRIL 1ST TO PAY MY TUITION OTHERWISE MY CLASSES ARE PAUSED AND I CANNOT GRADUATE.
My name is Heidy and I am a Hispanic artist from Fresno County attending Laguna College of Art and Design. I am a daughter of immigrants and the oldest of 5 siblings. After high school, I made the bold choice of not going to college as I thought school wasn't for me. I've worked in agriculture picking fruits in high heat to packing nuts during graveyard shifts. I soon realized the heavy working life with low pay was no way to live, so I went back to school.
As I thought, school wasn't for me as I found it really difficult to achieve my transfer credits to a four-year within the timeline my academic plan predicted. Although I didn't give up. The possibility of a better life with a degree was so close. Eagerly to achieve this, I eventually went on to receive my Associate's Degree in the Arts and my journey into a four-year college finally began.
I'm close to finishing that journey but due to my long time in community college and age, I no longer qualify for additional loans or federal aid. My family does not make nearly enough to help me and my job search has been unsuccessful due to me being a full-time student with minimal free time for work. This would be an amazing achievement not only for me but for my family as I will be the first to graduate college. Please help me achieve my fund goal so I can walk down the stage to my Bachelor's.
As a thank you for your donation, I will gift one print and my 3-part series zine "Mis Momentos," a series zine about growing up as a Hispanic girl. This is my senior project and it will be completed with an additional comic zine that is set to be completed in late May of 2025. Proof of donation will be needed but the amount will not matter, so long as you donated.
I have so much to offer in the artistic world, please help me continue my passion.
