My name is Mai and I am from La Crescenta, CA. My best friend Heidi has been by my side for over 9 years. We met in the beginning of middle school and have been close friends ever since. She is like a sister to me and I love her with all my heart.
Heidi has done an incredible job fending for herself over the years, working 3 different jobs just to make rent and take care of herself and her dog, Stink. She's done this all whilst putting herself through community college, then transferring to a 4-year university where she will be starting classes this month.
Recently, with the Eaton Canyon wildfire directly impacting the neighborhood where Heidi lives, her rented trailer in the back of her landlord's home was burned down completely and she is only left with her dog and some basic essentials.
She is currently safe and staying with her boyfriend's family who are also evacuated, but is in dire need of new clothes, grocery money, replacements for other living essentials, and a couple months worth of rent so that she may have the means to find a new place to call home.
I deeply admire her perseverance all these years and how she manages to care so deeply for others even during times when she is struggling herself, always making sure her friends were comfortable and well-fed when they came over to her place.
Please take a moment to donate––any and all contributions are greatly appreciated! <3
