Hello, my name is Wilkin Lara.

I’m reaching out to share the story of my mom, Heidi Caisse. She was born and raised in the Valley and is originally from Tamworth, NH. She’s a proud local and an even prouder mom.

At just 40 years old, my mom was recently diagnosed with colorectal cancer. For the past two months, she’s been out of work while undergoing aggressive treatment. Monday through Friday, she has to travel to Portland, Maine, where she receives both chemotherapy and radiation. It’s been an incredibly difficult and exhausting journey—physically, emotionally, and financially.

My mom raised me as a single parent. Her strength, sacrifice, and love have shaped who I am today. I recently graduated from Kennett High School, but she couldn’t be there to celebrate with me—she had just begun her treatments.

Even as she fights this battle, she continues to be my biggest supporter. She’s always put others before herself, and now it’s time for us to be there for her.
