Hector is turning 24 this May. Originally from El Salvador, he has always been the backbone of his family. He loves playing soccer and is known by everyone for his cheerful personality and the joy he brings to those around him.

On Saturday, May 2nd, Hector was involved in a devastating car accident that changed his life forever. His 14-year-old sister was also in the vehicle and, thankfully, suffered only minor injuries.

Hector, however, suffered severe, life-changing injuries, including a broken jaw, the amputation of his left arm, major damage to his right arm that will require multiple surgeries, and a traumatic brain injury. At this time, the full extent of his brain injury is still unknown.

He now faces a long and difficult road to recovery—one that will take months, possibly over a year, with constant medical care, surgeries, and rehabilitation.

His family is doing everything they can, but the financial burden is overwhelming. His mother is a single parent who is caring for both Hector and his 14-year-old sister during this incredibly difficult time.

Hector cumple 24 años este mes de mayo. Es originario de El Salvador y siempre ha sido el pilar de su familia. Le encanta jugar fútbol y es conocido por su alegría y por la energía positiva que transmite a todos a su alrededor.

El sábado 2 de mayo, Hector sufrió un grave accidente automovilístico que cambió su vida para siempre. Su hermana de 14 años también iba en el vehículo y, gracias a Dios, solo sufrió lesiones menores.

Hector, sin embargo, sufrió lesiones graves que cambiaron su vida, incluyendo una mandíbula fracturada, la amputación de su brazo izquierdo, daños severos en su brazo derecho que requerirán múltiples cirugías, y una lesión cerebral traumática. En este momento, aún no se conoce completamente el alcance de su lesión cerebral.

Ahora enfrenta un largo y difícil proceso de recuperación—uno que tomará meses, posiblemente más de un año, con atención médica constante, cirugías y rehabilitación.

Su familia está haciendo todo lo posible, pero la carga económica es muy fuerte. Su mamá es madre soltera y está cuidando tanto de Hector como de su hermana de 14 años durante este momento tan difícil.
