4/29 UPDATE:
Hector has been officially diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma. He will begin chemotherapy today or tomorrow.
He will remain in ICU for his first couple treatment doses to make sure he tolerates that well. If all goes well, he will be moved back to the oncology floor.
He will remain at OHSU for at least a month. Depending on treatment progress, he has the possibility of going home and further treatments will be administered at St. Charles Bend.
Keep those positive thoughts coming for Hector, Alex, kiddos and the rest of the family.
Hector is in much better spirits today and is a fighter.
Thank you for your support up to this point.
4/28 UPDATE:
Hector had a rough weekend and lost feeling and mobility in his lower extremities.
They did additional scans and saw lesions around his spine and his spine was shifted.
Hector went in for spine surgery and is currently in recovery.
What they found was “blue cells” around his spine, which is tumors. They sent those in for testing and removed as many of them as they could.
They tested his signals and he had some slight activity after surgery but won’t know how long until Hector will be able to walk again. He will need extensive physical therapy for mobility.
But this is all on top of the lesions on his brain, that still have not come back conclusive to begin any chemotherapy treatments.
Please keep them in your thoughts and any donation is greatly appreciated.
*reminder*
Please be respectful and patient with the family. They are understandably overwhelmed and cannot answer questions but appreciate your kind words and support.
Thank you.
UPDATE: 4/26
They have determined Hector has cancer and will be starting chemotherapy.
They are waiting for more results to determine what type of cancer he has to know which treatment they will do.
They may do another bone marrow biopsy as original tests came back negative.
They have completed his EKG to make sure his heart was healthy for treatment. They have inserted a PICC line so when they get official results, they will start treatment immediately.
Looks like everything is kind of at a standstill still for the weekend and more tests and results may not happen until Monday.
Hector and Alexandra have a long journey ahead of them. Please keep the family in your thoughts.

Friends and family of Hector Martinez:
As some of you may know, Hector has been in the hospital since Sunday where they discovered that he has Cavernous sinus thrombosis, which basically means he has a blood clot in the the large vein at the base of his skull ( the vein that drains deoxygenated blood from the brain and veins in the face back to the heart.) Currently, after tons of tests, we still have no answers to how or why this happened.
Today he will be going in for a bone marrow biopsy, we are really hopeful that this will give us some answers. Hector has an extremely high white blood cell count and no obvious signs of infections have been found.
Hector has been suffering from immense pain for two weeks now with many trips to the emergency department and doctors offices just to not be taken seriously, told by doctors to just “deal with the pain” and sent home. It wasn’t until Sunday, when he the most sick I’ve ever seen him, that the Emergency department finally took him seriously.
So this is a reminder to always advocate for yourself— if he had been sent away again, we could have lost Hector.
I’m trying to update everyone as I learn new information but it’s been a lot and I apologize if I’ve missed your messages.
Please keep Hector in your thoughts as this is an extremely difficult time for us and his kids really just want their goofy dad back.
We love you more than anything, Hector.
We currently don’t know how long Hector will be out of work and will be starting FMLA leave from the Sheriffs Department in Madras.
as we all know, leaves and medical assistance takes time to kick in and the last thing Alexandra needs to worry about is finances as she is caring for multiple children while her husband is in the hospital waiting for answers.
if you feel comfortable donating, anything would be greatly appreciated.
Alexandra also has a Venmo if you prefer that
