For those who don’t know me my name is Heavyn Chapman and I’m 22 years old diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease along with IBS since I was 14, due to these autoimmune diseases I unfortunately lost my whole colon in October of 2023, I was trying a new medication to help treat my disease when half of my colon ulcerated and I had to do emergency surgery to save my life. Since then my life has not been the same. Everything changed in the span of 24 hours, I had to relearn the way of surviving. I was getting better and was told that a reversal to get the bag removed would be seamless since I was so young, me being a 21 year old of course I wanted to lose the bag. So December of 2024 I decided to start the process of my J-pouch(ILEAL POUCH-ANAL ANASTOMOSIS) which is an internal makeshift rectum to hold stool made with my small intestine in the shape of a ‘J’. I ended up with drains due to abscesses in January and February, two different surgeries and two different sites that the drains were placed. I did end up not needing the drains. The healing was rough and keeping hydrated and getting nutrients was the worst. I completed the reversal March of 2025 this year. I have not been the same since. This is the worst I’ve ever been. Since the completion of my reversal I have not been home even two weeks before going back to the hospital. I keep getting infections and inflammation that have created fistulas and abscesses, they always come back after being treated. I’ll go to the hospital due to pain and fevers, I’ll get admitted and get IV antibiotics and other medications to help me. I’ll stay 3-9 days every admission. Once my blood work and symptoms are gone I go home and get sent home with oral antibiotics but they don’t work so I end up back in the hospital within a week of being home. I now I have a midline and am giving myself IV antibiotics to keep me out the hospital, this is not a permanent solution. Due to all of my medical conditions I unfortunately cannot work, I can barely take care of myself. My mom helps me everyday with simple needs since my stamina and endurance has became worse since the surgery and all the hospital stays. I am not one to ask for help but I’ve been dealing with my condition all my life and I’m at my worst and can’t do it alone. My mom helps me the best she can but she’s limited. This is me reaching out for help, anything helps even if it’s a dollar. Everything will go towards my health as in medical bills, medicine/ prescriptions, Food, Bills too keep my phone on for appointments and to keep contact with my doctors 24/7, any medical equipment that could help my health or make going through this tough time more comfortable. If you want to hear more in detail please reach out and I’ll tell you anything you want to know, I’m an open book and if you have questions I have no problem answering them. Thank you for taking time to read this, even if you can’t donate, may I ask you to keep my family and I in your prayers, again thank you.
