Support Heather's Medical Procedures & Recovery

Update 5/3/2024: Heather is preparing for her heart surgery Wednesday, May 8th! I say this with joy because that means her body is healthy and strong enough for this surgery! She will be undergoing heart surgery to replace/repair two leaking heart valves. The doctors allowed her to come home for the past few weeks to be with her family and regain strength in her kidneys. They said that if her kidneys weren't 100% prior to surgery it could cause life-long impacts. Heather has been taking it easy the last few weeks, but she is her capable, awesome self - as always. After the upcoming surgery on Wednesday 5/8, Heather will spend up to 10 days in recovery, several of which will be in ICU, so please continue to pray, and if you can, contribute monetarily (every little bit helps). This has been a life changing experience for Heather and all those who care about her. Our community has really shined for Heather and her family, whom are so thankful to their supporters in her time of need.

As a friend and former colleague of Heather Cater, I reach out to you with a hopeful heart to share Heather's story and ask for your support during this challenging time. The funds raised in this GoFundMe will directly benefit Heather's family, providing them with the support they will certainly through this unexpected journey.

What began as pneumonia quickly escalated, spreading infection to her heart and causing distress on her kidneys and entire body. Now facing the daunting prospect of open-heart surgery in the coming days, Heather's strength is being tested like never before.

Up until now, Heather has enjoyed good health, which makes this sudden turn of events all the more shocking for those who know and love her. Currently, Heather is in the good hands of the doctors at Norfolk General Sentara Heart Hospital ICU.

Heather is a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished sister, and loyal friend. Known for her compassion and unwavering support for others, she has always been the one to uplift and encourage those around her. Now, it's our turn to rally around Heather in her time of need.

Heather has always been actively involved in the community, volunteering and giving back whenever she can. Her selflessness shines through in her regular blood donations, a testament to her compassionate spirit.
