Support Heather’s Heart Recovery Journey
Donation protected
On March 18th, my mom was rushed to the hospital with chest pain. While undergoing evaluation for a heart attack, she showed some improvement and was able to walk to the bathroom with assistance. However, once there, she suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest. CPR was performed for 25 minutes before she regained a sustainable pulse. She was intubated and transferred to Rogue Regional Medical Center for further intervention.
Doctors performed an angiogram, which revealed a possible blockage in her main artery and shrunken blood vessels. She was placed on an Impella heart pump and faced a difficult road ahead, with the possibility of a heart transplant or a permanent heart pump. She was then transferred to OHSU, where she began showing signs of neurological responsiveness. She was able to follow commands, wiggling her toes, and squeezing hands.
Since then, she has made incredible progress. She was removed from the ventilator and the Impella pump and has started physical therapy. However, she has faced several secondary complications, including blood clots in her right arm and possibly lungs, pneumonia, pancreatitis, and decreased kidney function requiring dialysis.
With my mom and stepfather both unable to work, we are raising funds to help cover medical expenses, lodging, food, and household bills during this difficult time. Any support, whether through donation or sharing this fundraiser, means the world to us. Thank you for your kindness and generosity as we navigate this journey toward her recovery.
