“Hope for Heather: A Free Spirit, Loving Mom, and Fierce Fighter”
Life can change in an instant. Just a couple of weeks ago, our world was turned upside down when my cousin and best friend, Heather Wornson (Saurer), was diagnosed with stage three rectal cancer.
Heather is the kind of person who makes life an adventure. She finds beauty in the outdoors, peace in the trees, and joy in sharing those moments with the people she loves most. She’s the mom who treasures every laugh with Ava, the wife who stands by Chris through thick and thin, the daughter who lights up her parents’ lives, and the family member and friend we all love and adore.
This diagnosis was a complete shock at the young age of 42, and Heather now faces a grueling treatment journey. She will undergo radiation five days a week for six weeks, combined with chemotherapy pills during that time. After that, she will begin four months of intense chemotherapy treatments. The effectiveness of these treatments will determine future therapies and procedures needed. This fight will demand every ounce of her strength—but if you know Heather, you know she’s determined to fight.
