Hello, my name is Ryan and this GoFundMe is my attempt to help my lovely mom, Heather. My family has been put through the wringer in the last 2 years, and my mom could really use some help and support.
In 2024, my mom lost her home to Hurricane Helene and was forced to move back in with her parents. Almost exactly a year later, my grandmother, her mom, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that had metastasized almost all over her body. My mom quickly adapted and began juggling work, raising my younger sister who is a senior in high school, helping me navigate my life with complex health conditions, and taking care of her very sick mother. That’s just who she is, a giver. An incredibly strong woman who would drop everything to give all she can to those around her. When I first developed my disability at 13, she gave up her career for hospital visits and appointments, working gigs on the side to support her family. She stretched funds as far as she could so my sister could do marching band all four years of high school, which she loves deeply. She fought so hard behind closed doors to keep things afloat so we could have everything we needed.
On February 11th of 2026, just two days before her 49th birthday, as if losing her home, her mom’s cancer, and her financial hardships weren’t enough, she received another devastating blow; a diagnosis of aggressive stage 4 metastatic triple positive breast cancer.
Her oncologist said it was moving fast and there was no time to wait, and her scans, appointments, and port placement began immediately.
On Monday, March 9th, I took her to her first session of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. She will need 5 more cycles of these 4 medications, before she can have a double mastectomy, followed by 6 more months of immunotherapy, then possible radiation.
The doctor said she would be unable to keep working for at least a year, possibly longer. She is trying to get on Social Security Disability, but the process takes time, and potentially legal assistance, and she already has had to stop working.
My mom loves to give everything she can to others but hates to ask for help.
All the money raised in this GoFundMe will help her with expenses while she tries to get on Disability, including any legal fees she might acquire while doing so, that way she can focus on healing. Every dollar, cent, and every share would help so greatly in giving back to the woman who has given her all for her family and friends. I love my mom to death and I hate that life has been so cruel to her over the last few years. She has given her all for me and I hope to give it all back in her time of need.
Thank you
