Several people have asked how they can help, so after a lot of coaxing, here we go:
My name is Heather. On December 16, 2024, I woke up to intense pain in the stomach. I drove myself to the hospital where they discovered I was in kidney failure and I had a 11 cm tumor growing inside me. I spent 9 days in the hospital getting scans, a biopsy and treatments for unrelated health issues. I was a mess for a few days. I was released from the hospital on Christmas Eve and pulled into my house at 8pm (so elated to be out of the hospital in time for Christmas!)
Now that I am out of the hospital, the bigger fight happens. The tests revealed that I have stage IV rectal adenocarcinoma. I have come to find out things don't move as fast as one would want them to in the oncology world. I am currently waiting for them to put in a port and start the first chemotherapy treatment. Meanwhile, I am fighting it with some high-powered but pricey vitamins and minerals.
So, how can you help? PRAY! I believe that our God is bigger than anything this world can throw at us.
If you would like to help toward medical bills, here is a platform for that... and that is so appreciated.
As a side note, this journey has taught my family and I that we have an amazing network of people that love us and are willing to pray for us and hug us and support us. We are so blessed by all of you! I pray that we can be a blessing to you as well. Every single person who has reached out in anyway has blessed us immensely. I don't know if you can truly understand how much that has helped our emotional and mental well-being through all of this.
