Our family is walking through an unexpected and deeply challenging season, but we are holding tightly to faith, hope, and the promises of God.
Our mom, Heather, has been diagnosed with cancer for the fourth time. This time, it has returned as Leptomeningeal Disease, a rare and aggressive form that affects the lining surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Hearing this diagnosis has been overwhelming for us as her children, but even in the face of something so serious, we are not shaken in our faith. We believe in a God who still performs miracles, who strengthens the weary, and who walks with us through every storm.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1
“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.” — Jeremiah 30:17
Leptomeningeal disease is known to be aggressive and complex, often requiring urgent and specialized treatment. Over the past couple months, our mom has been in and out of the hospital as doctors work quickly to determine the best course of action. Doctors have explained that this diagnosis is often associated with a very serious and limited prognosis. Our dad, Robert has stepped away from work to care for her at home, surrounding her with constant love and support as we navigate appointments, testing, and next steps together.
Our mom has already overcome cancer three times before and she also has an autoimmune disease called scleroderma and raynaud's syndrome. She is a fighter. We have watched her face unimaginable challenges with strength, grace, and unwavering faith. She is determined to keep fighting so she can continue watching her grandchildren grow, celebrating family milestones, and pouring love into all of us.
Anyone who knows our mom knows she is a light. She has been a source of encouragement, warmth, and positivity to so many. Everywhere she goes, people feel her kindness and contagious positive energy. She has supported others in their hardest seasons, prayed faithfully for those in need, and loved deeply and selflessly. The outpouring of support we’ve received is a reflection of the lives she has touched.
As her children, we are determined to exhaust every possible avenue to ensure she receives the very best care available. We will pursue every treatment option, every specialist, every second opinion, and every resource available to us. We are trusting God to guide every decision and open the right doors for her care. We believe this chapter can still become a testimony of His faithfulness.
With our dad unable to work while caring for her, the financial strain has grown quickly. Medical bills, specialized treatments, travel, and everyday expenses are adding up. More than anything, we want them to focus on healing, peace, and time together — not financial stress. We created this fundraiser to help ease that burden so they can concentrate on what matters most: her health.
If you feel led to give, no amount is too small. Every donation, every prayer, and every message of encouragement truly makes a difference. If you are unable to give financially, we ask that you stand with us in prayer and share her story.
Our mom has spent her life pouring into others -loving, encouraging, and lifting people up in their hardest moments. Now, we are asking for that same love and support to surround her. We are believing boldly for healing. We are trusting completely in God’s power. And we are holding onto hope with everything we have.
From the depths of our hearts, thank you for standing with our mom, for believing with us, and for helping us fight alongside her.
With love and gratitude,
Joshua, Arniesa, Garret and her family.
