Support Heather's Battle Against Stage 4 Cancer
Donation protected
Heather Davidson is my sister and she is fighting Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer at the age of 46. She is a daughter, a mom, and a friend and we need your help! She had a double mastectomy in 2016 and in August 2024 received the diagnosis that it had metastasized in her bones. Cancer takes a physical, emotional, and financial toll on families. To allow her to focus her energy on healing, we are raising funds to help her with living expenses, access to better insurance, and treatment expenses.
Above everything, Heather is a mom. She and her husband Mike became parents at a young age. She was 17 years old when she gave birth to her son Tyler in 1995. They had their second child, Gracie, in 2001. Mike and Heather are one of the strongest couples I know. While parenting my awesome niece and nephew, they also tackled family health challenges and have always been the house that gathers our families together for every holiday and birthday. From left to right in the photo is: Gracie, Mike, Heather, and Tyler.
At age 38, Heather was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. She had a double mastectomy and has been living a full, cancer-free life for 8 years. She lost her job earlier in 2024 and was excited to start a new job on August 12. She went to the doctor the week before her start date and told them about pain she had been having in her hip and back, and got routine blood work, which showed something was off. On Friday, August 9, the pain got so severe that her primary doctor told her to go to the ER and get a scan and hopefully some medicine to help her through the weekend. That night she got unexpected news, the scan showed cancer in her bones. She didn’t start that new job, but she started a courageous journey.
Good news is that she has a treatment plan and the cancer is estrogen positive, which means hopefully no chemotherapy and more options for treatment. She will be getting monthly injections and medication to prevent her bones from deteriorating and hopefully shrinking and slowing its growth. Bad news is that it has spread throughout her bones and it's Stage 4, so not curable. We pray that her treatment team will continue to have clarity on next steps and new treatments that can give her the fullest and pain free life as possible.
The average monthly out-of-pocket cost burden for people fighting cancer in the United States is an average of $1,390, ranging between $180-$2600 (source ). Our fundraising goal of $6,000 is based on a minimum average of $500 per month for the next year to allow her the flexibility and stability to respond in a time of uncertainty. We hope that you will consider pledging your financial support to help Heather and her family through this time so that she can get the care she needs. We love you and we thank you!
If you are not in a place to donate, she loves getting mail! Whether you know her personally, or have never met her, send her something that will bring joy. Please fill out this short form and we'll send you her mailing address!
