It is with a heavy heart that I am making this fundraiser for my daughter, Heather Reed. Yesterday, March 24th, Heather went to check on her father, Jeffrey Reed, after not hearing from him for a while and noticing his phone was off. When she arrived at his apartment, the door was unlocked and his electric bike was inside, so she knew he must be home. She was immediately greeted by an unpleasant smell, and as she called out for him and approached his bedroom, she found him lifeless in his bed. He had passed away in his sleep from kidney failure days earlier, and the decomposition was severe. He died alone. Heather’s heart aches for the suffering he must have felt in his final days, and my heart aches for my daughter having to find him and experience this trauma.
Heather would love to give her father the proper goodbye he deserves. Unfortunately, he was not prepared for this—he was 63 years old and had no life insurance. The costs of funeral expenses and a memorial service are overwhelming, and Heather needs support to honor her father’s memory. Any donation, kind words, or sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to Heather and our family. Thank you for reading Heather’s story and considering to help during this difficult time.
