Support Heath Ovens' Recovery Journey

Hello friends, my name is Heath Ovens and I’m raising funds because things are getting pretty tight. On 8/4/24, I got very ill out of the blue with emesis full of dark red blood. It just kept coming. I did what I could and just before going into hypovolemic shock, I called 911 and was rushed into emergency and ICU to close up a massive hole that blew in my esophagus. Four days later and five blood transfusions, I’m out of the hospital and recovering for the foreseeable future, doing little every day to get my strength back. It’s a challenge feeling weak and short of breath doing just basic things.

I hate to ask anyone, but because of this, I’ve been out of work for a month, exhausted my personal time, and the state of Washington denied my initial PFML claim, which will take a minimum of another two weeks to see if they approve the second try with additional documentation. That being said, with the uncertainty of how that will go, the pressure is starting to mount. Anything and everything helps, and I’m as appreciative of a dollar as I am of 100. I’ve crunched some numbers as this goal is set as a worst-case scenario depending on if and when the claim is accepted. Thank you so much for any consideration. I’d like to invite anyone who wants to join me on my afternoon walks that are part of my recovery. Pretty much daily around 2 pm.
