My name is Kim Whitehead, a U.S. Army Veteran and Board Member of Hearts & Hooves Haven Animal Sanctuary in Lakeside, CA.

I am reaching out today because the sanctuary is facing a critical financial emergency, and we need the community’s help to keep our doors open.

Hearts & Hooves Haven provides lifelong refuge for rescued farm animals while offering free programs for veterans, children, and members of our community who come here to experience the peace and healing that only animals can provide.

Every day at the sanctuary, incredible moments happen. Veterans who carry the weight of service find quiet comfort while brushing a horse. Children learn compassion while meeting a rescue goat for the first time. Families reconnect with nature, animals, and each other.

The sanctuary has become a safe haven not just for the animals but also for the people who need a place to breathe, heal, and feel welcome.

But right now, we are in a very difficult position. Due to the rising cost of feed, veterinary care, insurance, and property maintenance, the sanctuary is operating at an all-time financial low.

We do have a few fundraisers planned in the coming months, but the truth is, we may not make it to those events without immediate help.
