Support Michelle's Heart Transplant Journey at Stanford

My name is Loren Koplan and this Go Fund Me is to benefit my wife Michelle Koplan's medical and care expenses following her heart transplant. Michelle was born with very complex congenital heart disease. In July, the transplant team at Stanford Medical Center voted to put her on the heart transplant list. She told them that she couldn’t have a heart transplant until after our daughter's milestone event (she's very stubborn). Although Michelle had a very hard month (well, maybe months) leading up to it, she made it through the event weekend- and our daughter was AMAZING!! Unless you knew about Michelle's heart, you would never know her heart was in decline, as she is still fairly active (maybe less so, but still working full time and full of spirit!). Unfortunately, however, Michelle is now at a point where the Stanford team wants to admit her to the hospital to wait for a new heart. She will be living (and working) from her hospital room until surgery. Following surgery, Michelle and I will be required to live in the Stanford area for up to 3 months. These funds will be utilized directly for livnig and medical expenses during our time at Stanford Medical. Since Michelle will be incapacitated for many weeks following the surgery, I will use the funds on her behalf for both housing (which must be within 10 minutes of Stanford as required by the transplant team following heart transplant) and all medical costs not covered by insurance.

Although it is always hard to ask for help, the expenses of this journey far outweigh what we thought was coming. Thank you, all, for the love and support!
