My name is Nicola Hill and I am the executive director of Heart of Glass Animals Rescue on the Southside of Pittsburgh. Our rescue means everything to me and I am so lucky to have the most dedicated and wonderful team. We also have the KINDEST and COOLEST support system in the world. I couldn’t be more grateful for the incredibly enlightened and compassionate people in my life.

Our animals here are our children, and we will do anything to make their lives as happy and fulfilling as possible

It is hard for me to personally ask for help but running an animal rescue (as my fellow rescuers know) comes with not only a ton of responsibility but a lot of financial hardship. We want to spend every single penny spoiling our kids here but the monthly bills to continue our mission can be difficult to maintain. This is especially true during the cold winter months of January and February. Our electric (especially with the recent space heaters), our gas and our water are hundreds each month.

I know this time of year is especially challenging for everyone but I’m reaching out today to ask for help if possible to get us through the next couple months.

Regardless, we value all you and are so appreciative for everything and we hope to make 2026 the most prosperous year for our mission and especially our furry kids ❤️
