My name is Hsuan-Yu, and I am the director, producer, editor, and camera person (among many other DPs) behind HEAR, EAT, HOME—a lyrical portrait of immigrant artists who transform war, displacement, and longing into music, art, and shared meals. This film has been years in the making, and I am now in the final stage of post-production. With your support, I hope to bring the finished film into the world in late 2026.
Right now, I am working to complete the final edit, sound design and mix, color grading, music licensing, and archival materials. These last steps are crucial to ensuring the film reaches its full potential and can be shared with audiences everywhere. The film has already touched early viewers in meaningful ways. One musician told me, “For those of us living abroad and unable to return home, the film’s portrayal of immigrant artists really hit home.” At another work-in-progress screening, an audience member simply hugged me afterward—no words were needed to show how much the film meant to her.
As the world feels increasingly divided, stories that build understanding and compassion matter more than ever. This film is my small contribution to a better, more empathetic world. Your contribution will directly help complete the film and hire the production crew. Please also feel free to share the link with friends, family, and anyone who cares about immigrant stories. Thank you so much for supporting this journey.
The GoFundMe Campaign is designed to reach out to a new audience for HEAR, EAT, HOME. You may contribute here, or come to my main page to explore. I invited you to check my work in progress and a special gift, HEAR, EAT, HOME Music Advent Calendar. Each day, we introduce one musician with their curated mini-playlists!
