Support Nutritious Snacks for Hope Valley Students

The Hope Valley Elementary PTA is asking for your help to ensure every child at our school eats a nutritious snack every single day!

The Hope Valley Elementary Snack Fund aims to bridge the gap for any of our 550+ students who might be without a snack during the school day.
Why does our school need a Snack Fund?
- Hope Valley is a Title I school, meaning a high percentage of our children come from low-income households without consistent access to sufficient food
- Existing food programs at the national, state, and local levels, and school meal programs—such as breakfast, lunch, and after-school snacks—only partially meet the needs, leaving a gap in food assistance within the classroom
- Hunger can have an adverse impact on children, negatively affecting brain and cognitive development and increasing the risk of chronic health conditions, which can result in behavioral problems, including classroom disruptions
- Teachers use their own money to feed hungry students at snack time, spending $530 million annually (KidBright USA)
- The snack fund will ensure that all classrooms and students have access to snacks in a fair and equitable manner
How will the Snack Fund work?
- Funds raised will go to the PTA, and a group of volunteers will purchase snacks in bulk, deliver them to the school, and be reimbursed by the PTA Snack Fund
- The PTA currently has limited funds, which can only cover snacks 1-2 times per week or provide daily snacks for just five weeks. With 25 weeks of school remaining, we need your help to ensure every student in need receives a snack every day for the rest of the school year
- If we exceed our goal, any additional funds will be used for teacher appreciation meals/snacks or food for school-wide events
How much should I give?
Any amount helps, but here are some ideas:
- $7 provides a classroom with a snack of Goldfish crackers or Nutrigrain bars for one day
- $35 pays for snacks for a classroom for one week
- $100 pays for snacks for a whole grade level for one week
- $600 will cover the cost of snacks for all students in need at Hope Valley Elementary for one week

El fondo de botanas de Hope Valley busca asegurar que los 550+ estudiantes de la escuela puedan carecer de una merienda para pasar el día.
¿Por qué se necesita un fondo de botanas?

¿Cuánto debería donar?
Cualquier cantidad nos ayuda mucho, pero aquí hay algunas ideas:
- $7 cubren una botana de galletitas Goldfish o barras Nutrigrain para un salón por un día.
- $35 cubren botanas para un salón por una semana.
- $100 cubren botanas para todo un grado, de 5 a 6 salones, por una semana.
